This time, it's personal...

We found one!

Well, one week into the Los Angeles part of the journey, we found an apartment. It’s pretty amazing. It’s from the 30’s with 2 bedrooms and a den. Plus we get view of Hollywood. Fortune was kind to us.

We had driven all over Los Angeles in search of a good apartment. We checked Venice and Santa Monica as well as Inglewood and Boyle Heights. But we found the one for us in what is called Mid-City. This part of LA was desperate to seem important, so they named themselves. It doesn’t mean anything but is quite informative. We’re close to everything now! Plus there is even a police station near by, hooray!

All and all it has been a long road leading up to this point. At times in North Carolina, just getting here seemed impossible. But not only are we here, after tomorrow, we should have an official LA address. Now all we have to do is get all of our stuff over here. I happily think of moving our things until I think of moving Hannah’s office. I guess I need a workout after sitting in a car for a entire month…

A big thank you to Hannah’s mother for helping us get the apartment and my mother for helping move our stuff accross the country! We can’t thank you enough. You both have helped so much in our journey and we are very grateful.

Then we sacked the city of Redlands and gorged like kings.

On to California?

Another dawn creeped in through blinds. Another morning before we got back in the car and headed to our next stop. Except we never quite got to the leaving part. 1st mistake: getting Nikos for breakfast. For those who don’t know, this is a breakfast burrito place. I know they serve other stuff, but I’ve only had their amazing breakfast. One burrito will do you in. I had a quarter of Hannahs and half of my Aunts on top of the one I ate. Needless to say I was uncomfortably full. Then I napped for an hour or three.

After watching the travel channel and interesting shows such as Bar Rescue, we decided we had to do something with our lives, so we went thrifting. While on the hunt we found 50 cent records and some sweet opera glasses or just small binoculars…anyways hours later, we finally got on the ole dusty trail around 5pm. No reason to rush at this point. We were again treated to another nice drive followed by long periods of dark nothingness that could put Tony Montana to sleep.

But finally at 2am we were in Redlands. Home to the University of Redlands and Oranges. Now luckily, our friend Evan had a roommate move out so we were and are able to stay in the abandoned room. Its the best, except we have to drive an hour and a half to look at apartments. This is the new ending to the story of Manifest Destiny, searching around an apartmetscape of over priced condos and South Central bungalows. Wait, what?

Currently this is the state of our journey: searching for lodging and jobs. Like or forefathers before us we too toil over the land, looking for work and a safe apartment. So far no apartment. But I got a good feeling deep within my loins that our dreampartment of our fantasies is just around the corner. Then the jobs.

Then we left Arizona or ole California. The end of the road. Roadseidon let us pass in safety.
